Heather (to Emery): “What should we have for dinner tonight?”
Emery: “A hot dog.”
Heather: “Silly, we had a hot dog for lunch.” [at Costco]
Emery: “How about … a …”
Emery & Lindsay Together: “… corn dog.”
A glimpse into the life of Heather, Barney, Lindsay, and Emery Boisvert.
Have you taken a look at the trees lately? They seem to get more spectacular every year. We have some of the most amazingly red leaves around here. When the sun shines through them, from afar, you might imagine they’re on fire….if only it weren’t pouring with rain two seconds later. Yes, the rainy season has arrived here in Oregon, making me wonder if we’re going to make it out to go trick or treating after all. Along with the rain, the illnesses have arrived in full force. The kids (and I, of and on) have been sick since the last weekend in September. Talk about housebound and miserable. Lindsay holds onto colds longer than anyone I’ve ever met, and with us usually having a nice full schedule of preschool and gymnastics and playgroups, let’s just say we’re all getting on each others’ nerves a bit. And of course, being sequestered in a house together, we’re all bound to get sick! Fun fun. The miser in me is also irritated to no end now that we’re paying for all of these various classes and preschool and all that, for them to be missing so many. That’s a lot of wasted money, not to mention the holes in their “education”. Lindsay will forever have a handicap when it comes to the letters “O” and “H” (which she should have been learning about these past couple of weeks).
Now it hasn’t been all misery around here, don’t worry. We have managed to get out a bit to places where they aren’t in such close quarters with people and can’t spread their germs so easily. We went to the Pumpkin Patch with Lindsay’s preschool class, we met Uncle Stuart’s new puppy, Dinsdale, and we participated for a few minutes in the MOMS Club Halloween Party, while I constantly followed the kiddos around with hand sanitizer! Go check out the pics! And please, please, do us a favor. Once we’re all better, nobody come visit us if you’re sick, or have been sick the week before! I really don’t want to be stuck in the house all winter, Lindsay would love to get back to preschool on a regular basis, and Emery would like to continue to develop his gymnastics prowess. Hope everyone else is doing better than we are!
This is how Emery spent his time on Tuesday while Lindsay was at preschool.
In between asking where Lindsay was every 5 minutes he made us tea and rode his horse while drinking, hopping off every so often to offer me a sip.
He’s certainly blossoming into his own as a two year old, and now takes after his father in the fact that any time he’s doing anything, he’s also singing some made up song about completely random things. He and Barney find this utterly hilarious. While Barney’s songs consist of subjects I wont write on here, Emery’s go more along the lines of “Popcorn popcorn popcorn … I love BATS!” or “Chainsaw says MOO … stinky little POOP!”
By the way, Emery would like everyone to know that any sentence that ends in the word “bat” or “poop” is the funniest thing ever. That’s all for now.Â
I just uploaded a new gallery, mostly of a recent trip to the zoo with Auntie Chloe and Grandma Gail (who had to buy the kiddos new Oregon Zoo sweatshirts. Thanks Grandma!), and a few of the kids playing at the park. We’re trying to squeeze as much out of these last few weeks of summer as we possibly can!
I can’t believe how quickly this summer has passed. Lindsay had her first day of preschool on Tuesday and loved it. Her teacher said she must be used to being the star pupil, and that she’s VERY ready to learn. Woman, you have NO idea. Emery and I spent our first hours of “just us” time reading books at the library, strolling through old town Sherwood, and painting and hand-stamping a tile at a paint your own pottery place, which he thoroughly enjoyed. I think he likes the one on one, undivided attention just a little bit… I’ll try to remember to post a pic of his masterpiece when we pick it up on Friday.
Whoops! I just realized I forgot to upload one of my galleries from an outing to the beach last week. On this trip the insane children decided to strip down in the fog and frolic in the waves! That being said, if you have an issue with baby bums, first, go get your head checked, and then, with all due respect, don’t look at the gallery. :) Oh, and have a nice day.
Wow, I haven’t posted any of the pics from Easter, and here we are, already heading into May! Time certainly flies…
In the Easter Weekend Gallery you’ll find pics of some time spent with Uncle Stuart, Cousin Spencer while he was here visiting, a trip to OMSI, general goofing around, and Easter at Memere and Pepere’s. Whew.
In the End Of April Gallery you’ll find sidewalk chalk pics, cousins playing pics, and, drumroll please…… Lindsay’s first haircut pics!
Go check it all out. There’s plenty to see.
Wow, with our trip to California for my mom’s 5oth, and then our site being in disarray, I have completely forgotten about my poor blog! As you can see, Barney has been frantically trying to get everyones’ blogs up and running again after his server crashed last week. So be prepared for some changes, obviously in appearance as well as functionality. He’s slowly working us back towards the way we were before, but I’m just so grateful anything works at all! He stayed up past 1 last night to get us this far so that we can at least post, and put some pics on. So thanks to you, my sweet!
In recent news (although it’s already been over three weeks!) Emery is WALKING! Yes, he is completely and utterly mobile, and I LOVE it! Oh, don’t get me wrong, he’s still entirely clingy, but at least I can put him down and he can follow me from room to room rather than me having to carry him. And when we go to parks and the like, he can explore a little on his own. Yes, that’s a blessing and a curse all at once, but I feel such relief for him that I’ll force myself to be grateful. This poor kid reminds me of my brother when he was little; too smart for his incapable body, and horribly frustrated half of the day. I don’t really know how to describe how we know he’s highly intelligent. It’s just the little things he does every day. Watching how he figures things out so easily, and how he analyses things to understand how they work; he’s almost mechanical, an engineering mind for sure. I tell ya what, I’ll be shocked if this kid grows up to be a vet, or a painter. No, I’m thinking more along the lines of architect, or structural engineer, or hey, maybe computer scientist. Only time will tell I suppose.
Let’s see, what else? Halloween was a blast. Lindsay was Cinderella (her favorite princess, she has the movie completely memorized!) and Emery was a little bat man (thank you to Auntie Peggy for donating the costume). I’ll try to get some pics up soon so stay tuned! Oh, and we lost our little kitten Dusty on Halloween night. I think all of the trick or treaters scared him, he ran, and then had no idea where he was, or how to get home. I had nightmares of some punks putting him in a dumpster or something, but after putting up Lost posters a few days later, we got a call and retrieved Dusty from a gal who had kindly taken him in after she found him cowering under her deck to escape the stormy weather we’ve been having. Needless to say, we were so very grateful and relieved (except maybe Barney, just kidding!)
Well, I think that’s all the update I have for now (like that wasn’t enough to bore you to tears, right?) Like I said, I’ll try to get some pics on this week. Ta ta for now!
Nope. He’s still not walking. I’m trying hard not to be impatient, but it’s difficult.
I never had this anticipation with Lindsay. With her, it was like, "she’ll walk when she walks, who cares"? But with Emery, I’m just WAITING for the day. I know everyone tells me not to rush it, that once he walks, I’ll wish he couldn’t. But it’s SO not true. It would be wonderful to take them both to a park, and be able to set him down and have him walk himself around instead of pointing to different things and grunting at me to carry him to the next adventure. And I know Lindsay can’t wait ’til they can play tag, and just run around like crazy monkeys together. And I KNOW he wants to so badly. Any time Barney and Lindsay take off, "racing" each other, he goes all stiff and flails his arms and legs and yells after them. Also, I think walking will help the whole crying when I leave the room issue. If he could actually follow me at a walk, he might not be so miserable. He’s just getting too heavy to carry around all the time.
He is attempting to communicate on a more regular basis now though, which is nice. He uses the same two-note-tone for "thank you", "more please", and "all done", but he is quickly learning the signs for those, and actually using them! He also now says "MO!" for "more", and "UH" for "up". It’s only a matter of time before he and Lindsay are arguing in their own strange little language patterns! ;)
