Miss Lindsay had her ballet recital this evening. Barney, Emery, Auntie Chloe, Uncle Patrick, and Ayden all attended, and thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment. Lindsay soaked up the spotlight and was definitely the center of attention. As soon as she came out on stage, he tried scanning the darkened audience for me, yelling “Mommy? Mommy! Miss Aubrey, where’s my mommy sitting?” in a not-so-quiet voice. But as soon as that music started, she snapped right into her routine, executed it wonderfully, and then proceeded to bounce off the walls until they ushered the girls off stage. Too funny. She’s such a ham. I’m going to try and figure out how to get the video I took off of my camera and onto here for your viewing pleasure. After all, what’s cuter than a bunch of little girls in tutus with ribbons in their hair, flinging scarves around a stage? ;) Until I manage to figure that out, enjoy the pics Barney tried to snap over the heads of the people in front of him!

We celebrated Nikolai and Dodo’s (Memere’s) birthdays over the weekend here. It was nice to have company over, and to see everyone again; a nice distraction from the fun that is selling and buying a house as well!
We chatted, played, hung out on the swing, played baseball, opened presents, ate delicious strawberry shortcake, and sang the birthday song. Well, tried to sing the birthday song above Nikolai’s frantic screaming. For some reason, as soon as we all started singing, he freaked out and started screaming, “NO SINGING, NO SINGING PLEASE!!!!!” We all of course finished out the song thinking he’d just plug his ears and settle down, (and since we were singing for Memere as well!) but he didn’t. He refused to blow out the candles or eat any of the delicious treat after that. Poor guy. Hopefully he’ll get over that soon, as the singing’s bound to happen at least once a year for the rest of his life!
He did get over it later though, and went out back to play with the kids, with his new soft baseball and bat, and remote control car. Overall a nice little get together with family. Happy Birthday Nikolai and Dodo! We love you! Pics are in two galleries. This one and This one. ![]()
I’m loving that:
- The family spent the day outside gardening together and fixing things around the house rather than watching a movie or the like.
- The kids played on their slide together, cooperating, taking turns, and using their imaginations by pretending they were different characters on various adventures, while I got some much needed weeding done!
- We read every book that we got from the library the other day, in one sitting, and they wanted to hear them all again.
- Lindsay has spent all day telling me that I’m the most beautiful lady in the world, and so sweet to her, and telling Barney that he’s the most handsome man in her dreams.
- Emery has learned to give smooches (a hand on each of my cheeks and plants a kiss on the lips, saying “MMMMMMMWWWAAAAA”) and gives them to me regularly.
- They both went right down for naps.
- They are the only kids I’ve ever met who ASK to brush their teeth and go to bed.
- We all spent an evening at the pool goofing around and going down the big water slide about FIFTY times ( it was so worth it to see the looks on their faces at the bottom each time)!
- We rounded off the day at Chloe and Patrick’s, having dinner and hanging out in front of a cozy fireplace.
It’s a good life…
Our beautiful weather is gone again, leaving me aching for summer.
While the sun shone down, we spent our days outside playing, planting flowers, drawing sidewalk art, and actually saw our neighbors for the first time in several weeks! This morning it was raining when we woke up, so we headed to the Children’s Museum once again with some friends. I snapped a few pics of both the sunny fun of yesterday, and our outing today. Enjoy!
We decided last minute on Saturday, to head to Warrenton to visit Memere, Pepere, Aunty Peggy, Nikolai, and Gabriel. And what a great decision it was.
Lindsay had been asking to go visit them all week, so Barney and I caved on Saturday morning (like it’s a hard decision!) and we drove on out and spent the night. Pepere has been hard at work with the “playground” in the sideyard, and you can’t even imagine how much joy it has already brought the kids, and it’s not done! Thank you Pepere for loving your grandkids so much. You can check out the pics of the kidoos playing on the new swings, as well as pics of us all hanging out in the new gallery.
The kiddos and I didn’t leave the house today. We didn’t even get DRESSED! Can you believe that?!
I make sure we get out of the house almost every day, as I love to stay busy and find fun things for us to do together. The kids tend to get a little “pent up” and grumpy when we stay home all day, and my nerves get a bit frazzled. But today was pretty good. We just hung out, sang songs, danced, dressed up, read books, took naps, etc. I snapped some pics while we played, for your entertainment. Enjoy.
