We headed out to the tree farm this past weekend (which I might add was the ideal, gorgeous weekend to head out) to carry on our family tradition of selecting and cutting down our very own Christmas tree (visions of the Griswolds here, and please tell me you know who the Griswolds are people! If not, where have you been the past 20 years?).
The last several years I lived with my family while growing up, we always got a live Christmas tree, and then went and planted it on our property in Port Angeles. This seemed like a really cool idea, until we went back a year after doing it for the last time, and found that someone had discovered our little Christmas tree retirement home, and taken it upon themselves to tresspass on our land and cut down our family treasures for their own. Pretty crappy, eh? Ya, I thought so too.
Anyway, not only do Barney and I usually not have the money to buy live trees, but I just don’t want to have to figure out where to plant a tree each year. And anyway, it’s fun to go as a family and wander through the farm looking for the perfect one. You get to bundle up and go on an adventure, and then come back, spoils in hand, and enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate and a candy cane. What could be more fun?
Here are the pics from this year’s adventure. and once the tree is all decorated, I’ll post some pics of that as well.
heather, in the pic of the tree fairy (lindsey), she looks remarkably like your sister. and, the one of all of you lets go get hot chocolate, looks like a hallmark photo. or madona. love, dot
Love the tradition. And the Griswolds. : )
