Only a Two Year Old…

… would choke on her bacon, vomit it back up on her plate, and keep on eating breakfast with the vomit placed neatly next to her eggs.

They Grow So Fast

We celebrated Emery’s first birthday this weekend with friends and family.  I can’t believe it’s been a year.  Time definitely flew by a lot faster this "second kid around". Finger Lickin' Good

Makes me wonder what I missed in the midst of taking care of TWO kids.  With your first child, you see everything.  Every new facial expression, new gurgle, new hand gesture, it’s all so momentous, and should be, with any kid.  But with the second child, you’re so busy juggling a household and the older sibling, that you can let so much slip by without really taking notice or giving it due celebration.  But I will say I’ve tried to keep track.  I’ve made another slide show, The Year In Emery for your viewing pleasure.  It’ll be small, but it should work.

So, here’s to you Emery, Happy Birthday.  Here’s to learning to smile, to sit up, to grab things with your hands, the discovery of your own feet, rolling over, crawling, clapping, standing, saying mama and dada, mimicking the tone of "thank you", getting your first four teeth, and all the other stuff we celebrated in passing this past year.  I can’t believe how quickly you’re growing up, and I see myself sternly judging any girl you bring to our house already.  They’ll never be good enough for you, you know.  ;)  You’ve been an amazing mixture of sweet and tempermental since the day you were born, and I see something new in your face every day.  I know you’ll be a heart breaker with those amazing blue eyes framed by perfect dark eyebrows, your beautiful olive skin, gorgeous head of hair, adorable cheeks, perfect little red lips, and a smile to die for.  I can already tell you’re extremely intelligent, and prefer to celebrate your own little victories in private, glancing back to see if I’ve noticed, rather than shouting it out to the world the way your sister always has.

Let me just say, I notice, little man.  I’ll always notice you, how could I not?  I love you with all of my heart.

More Randomness For Your Ordered Lives

Well, this new gallery is as chaotic and varied as our daily lives are around here.

I finally managed to snap some pics of Lindsay at her Gymnastics class she goes to every week, but the pics are a little fuzzy because without being allowed to use flash, there’s no way in hell you’re going to capture a still image of a two year old unless they’re asleep!

We also headed to the zoo with Auntie Chloe to ride the Washington Park train last week.  It was Ayden’s first train ride, and he seemed to enjoy it as much as my kiddos do.

Last but certainly not least, we kidnapped Ayden today so that Chloe and Patrick could put up a new fence in their backyard, and we all headed out to the Multnomah Falls for a picnic and walk.  The weather was perfect, the falls gorgeous, and the kids well behaved.  We then headed to the library to get some new books before going over to Chloe’s to drop Ayden off, admire the fence, and share a pizza dinner out on the patio.  Not a bad way to spend a weekend I’d say.
