Museum Marauders

We had a great weekend in our neck of the woods.  The weather has cooled down a bit, so we headed indoors for some fun.

On Saturday, we babysat Ayden for the afternoon, and took him along with us to OMSI.He's On the Go!  He, and the rest of us, had a great time just goofing around.  When we walked in, he spotted a little "shopping cart" thing and as soon as I put him down, he jetted over to it, stood up, and took off, relishing in his newfound mobility.  I mean, he was running, seriously.  It was the funniest thing.  Emery soon caught on and stole the cart, and successfully eeked out his first few upright steps!  Pretty cool to see him figure out how to balance enough to not just shove the cart out in front of him like he usually does.  :)  We then headed over to a new exhibit in the life sciences hall having to do with woodland creatures, where they live, what they eat, etc.  It was actually a great addition, and the kids had a blast.  Go check out their chipmunk costumes in the new gallery.  Pretty darn cute.

Saturday evening we headed to the County Fair and payed way too much for food and rides, but it was a good time, so I think it was worth it.  Don’t ask Barney what he thought.  ;)  Lindsay loved seeing all of the animals, and thought it was such a treat to see the cows being milked and to watch the dock dogs competition (where the dogs chase a toy off the end of a long platform, into a huge pool of water and they measure who leaps the farthest).  Overall a wonderful evening.

Today we just hung out at home in the morning, then headed to the Children’s Museum in the afternoon to let off some steam on another cool and sporadically wet day.  The kids painted their faces, we played with clay, buried ourselves in the dig pit, splashed in the water, and took part in a Karate demonstration they were doing for the kids.  We then came home, took naps, and headed out to the park with the dog after dinner.  There we met Peggy and the boys for some swinging, sliding, hopping, running, ball throwing, berry picking, bike riding fun.  Once again, another wonderful, fun filled evening here in good ol’ Beaverton.
