A Fantastic Fourth!

Hope you all had a safe and fun Fourth Of July.  We certainly did!

We started out the day by having brunch/lunch with Chloe, Patrick, Ayden, and Grandma Gail over at their house.  Cutie PiesFrom there we headed to Molalla River State Park to let the dogs swim, the kids play, and to go for a walk.  The weather was perfect and the grassy meadows gorgeous.  After resting and having a snack, we headed on down the road to a popular local swimming hole on the banks of the river.  I couldn’t believe how warm the water was, so Lindsay put on her swimsuit and I walked out with her and ‘Quila for a quick dip.  After having a blast and tiring ourselves out, we all piled back in the car and headed home to rest up.

Once we got home though, we decided to invite everyone over for a 4th Of JulyPool Time barbeque dinner!  So Peggy, Justin, Nikolai, Gabriel, Chloe, Patrick, Ayden, and Grandma Gail joined us to celebrate.  What a blast!  The kiddos played in our big blow up pool, the dogs hung out in the yard, and the grownups got to chill and mingle ’til the food was ready.  Thanks to Barney the chef for a delicious feast of burgers, corn on the cob, chips and drinks!  A very nice way to spend an evening.

After eveyone went home, we took a little walk to the park and watched everyone setting off their firecrackers and fireworks.  We then headed back to our couldesac and did some of our own firecrackers with the neighbor kids.  I was hoping Lindsay would be able to stay up to see the big fireworks display at 10:00, but she pooped out around 9:30, so we put the munchkins to bed and headed out to the front yard with our lawnchairs and ‘Quila in tow (who, I might mention, was awesome the whole day.  Didn’t even flinch at the fact that it sounded like a war zone in our neighborhood).  We didn’t know when we bought our house, but you can see the big show that the Oak Hills neighborhood (right across Bethany Blvd) puts on every year, right from our front yard!  Perfect seats!  We sat out and chatted with the neighbors, then watched the fun without even having to leave home!  Talk about convenient!  It was a really great show.  I’d definitely recommend it if anyone wants to come over next year!

I managed to snap a few pics here and there throughout the day, so go check ‘em out!

Sounds like a good Holiday all around!

What fun to enjoy the fireworks without leaving home. No traffic to deal with…

Pretty cute kids you have there. Pepere (and I) are in need of a GK fix. But, all things being soccer, the rest is kind of pushed aside.

    Soon…..
