Evening Out

We had a great time this evening at the Oregon Zoo.  We went for the first of their summer concert series, which is free for us as members, so we thought we’d check it out.  The kiddos and I went early to see the animals and secure a good spot on the concert lawn, and Barney joined us later, after he got off of work.

It was a blast sitting on blankets on the lawn, listening to music, and watching Lindsay rock out while we enjoyed a picnic dinner.  She was a dancin’ fool, and Emery got all excited watching her, and didn’t stop bouncing all night!  We beat the crowd out, as the concert goes ’til about 9:30, but the kids don’t.  ;)

We’ll definitely have to do it again, maybe make a fun summer tradition of it, and anyone who’d like to join us next time is more than welcome to!  But I’d recommend getting a membership so that it doesn’t cost you each time, and so that you can get into the zoo as much as you want all year long.  Definitely worth the initial expense.

There are some photos from the past couple weeks in the June Gallery.  Go check them out.

To Our Daddy On Fathers Day

I asked Lindsay and Emery to help me write something nice about their daddy this Fathers Day morning, and this is what they had to say:Smiley Sweeties

Lindsay:  "Daddy is nice… And fun… And he gives me snuggles… Or something… And reads me books… And what else?"

Emery then interjects an emphatic "UHHHHHHHHH" in agreement and claps while smiling like a goon.

Me: "He also works very hard every day to keep us happy and healthy and let us live in this nice house."

Lindsay:  "And gives us our new neighborhood and Lisa!" (the neighbor gal).  "And ‘Quila!  I like having a good doggy here.  And playing with him" (daddy) "is fun."

Emery drools in agreement.

Straight from the mouths of babes.  Happy Fathers Day Barney. My Little Turtles  You’re the most wonderful daddy I could ever have hoped for our kids, and I couldn’t do this without you.   I love that our kids are going to grow up knowing how much you love them, each and every day.  You do an amazing job of making them feel special and appreciated, and they adore you for that.  And so do I.

We Love You!

So Fun

Lindsay and I went to try out Gymnastics this morning, and had a blast.  It was very structured, which should be good for her, and they focused on learning to take turns while using the equipment, which should help now that Emery is mobile and wanting to share her toys and all that.  ;)  We played with hula hoops and musical instruments, stretched, jumped on the longest trampoline I’ve ever seen, played in "the pit" which is full of squishy blocks and there’s a rope swing to play on, and did somersaults and such through an obstacle course.  I was tired just watching her, and she definitely needed her nap after lunch today.

I think we may end up alternating Ballet and Gymnastics, because she loves dancing, but really wants to do this as well.  She’ll be in good shape, that’s for sure!  I didn’t get a chance to take pics, because it’s a parent participation class, so I was a little busy, but maybe I can drag Barney or Chloe there sometime to snap some for you all.  In the meantime, there are some recent pics from the kiddos’ weekend at Memere and Pepere’s as well as some of Lindsay’s ballet class yesterday.

Catching Up

Wow.  As Chloe recently mentioned, this year is absolutely FLYING by!  I haven’t had as much time to post lately, as we’ve been super busy, AND as you know, we got a dog, so I like to let her in during the times I used to post, and she’s still so young and unpredictable that I can’t just leave her alone downstairs (as Carrie and Sim discovered last night after she dragged a fabric softener bottle onto their couch and proceeded to punch holes in it with her sharp little teeth during our visit.  Damn labs anyway…)       ;)

So, let’s see, Emery finally got his first tooth last week, and is in the process of cutting a few more as we speak.  Poor kid, he’s miserable, but at least he’ll get it all over with quickly rather than dragging it out for half a year like some kids!  And he’s finally getting frustrated enough about not being able to reach the things he so desperately wants, that he’s mastering the army crawl.  He’ll be off and running before summer’s out I’m sure.

Lindsay is her wonderful sassy self, amusing us every day with the new phrases and such that she somehow cooks up in her little brain.  She has pretty much mastered the potty thing, which is a blessing and a curse all at the same time.  It’s so nice not to have to change her messy diapers, but now I have to dash to find a potty for her whenever she needs one, and still have to wipe when she’s done.  I’ll sing and dance the day she figures out how to properly clean herself and I won’t have to hear, "wipe me please!" echoing down the hallway.  :)

In other news, my best friend, Carrie, and her wonderful husband Simeon, who have been trying to concieve for quite a while now, are finally pregnant!  I am so excited.  And then yesterday, another one of our friends, Carole, just announced that she too is pregnant!  Very fun.  Well, maybe not for them for the next few months, but it’ll be fun for me to be able to finally "talk mommy" with them.  I’ve been waiting so patiently these past two years for everyone else to jump on the kid wagon with us, and it’s finally happening!  Hurry up babies….grow, grow, grow.  :)

Oh ya, there is another gallery up for your viewing pleasure.  Go check it out
