The Lindsay Files

While we were enjoying Thanksgiving with our close and extended
family last week, Chloe brought her little bird, Tito, downstairs to
hang out with everyone.  After flying around the room a bunch,
which I might add made Lindsay laugh hysterically, he settled on
Spencer’s shoulder.  Lindsay raced over to the couch Spencer and I
were sitting on and I told her, "Look sweetie, Tito’s sitting on
Spencers shoulder.  Isn’t that cute?"  She moved around my
legs, studied Tito for a moment, and then looked at me with an
all-knowing, slightly condescending expression on her face and replied,
"ACTUALLY he’s standing on his shoulder mommy." and nodded with her eyebrows raised and chin tucked.

Well excuuuuuuse me.  ;)  Cheeky thing.  I
couldn’t help laughing.  I know this is just the beginning of
being corrected by my far-too-intelligent-for-her-own-good
daughter.  And she’s not even two yet!  Yikes.

Every
time I change Emery now, while she helps me wipee him down, she tells
me that boys have a "PEEE-nis" and girls have "an-TEN-na".
:)

Then, just this afternoon while we were all having lunch
together, as Barney poured her some juice she told us, matter of
factly, "Juice going poop and pee-pee."  Too funny.

Thanksgiving and Such

Well, Thanksgiving went very well despite our many trips out the
door to go look at prospective houses in the Beaverton area!  My
sister and Nanna were absolutely wonderful about watching Lindsay for
us while we galavanted around, rushing from house to house.  It
was soooo much easier to not have her there with us, wanting to touch
things and go up and down stairs at a snails pace.  ;)  After
looking around for those two weeks, we realized that, first of all,
there isn’t a lot on the market this time of year, and secondly,
Portland is WAY more expensive to live in than Bellingham.

We
did manage to find a potential home though in a nice little
neighborhood with some of the best schools in the Portland vicinity, so
we’re praying that the deal on our house goes through without a hitch,
and that we’re able to close in time to keep the deal on this potential
house in Beaverton.  It’s incredibly stressful!  I can’t
believe how tired I’ve been these past three weeks!  And time for
blogging?  Unheard of.  ;)

I also didn’t get much of a chance to take good pics while I was down there, although I did take a few, but I know that Chloe, and possibly Carrie,
will have some good ones on their sites in the next few days, so keep
checking those as well.  I’ll keep everyone posted on the buying
and selling houses situation, but just keep your fingers crossed for
us!  Let’s hope this all goes off without a hitch, and that we’ll
be in our new place before the end of the year.

Time Flies

Wow.  I can’t believe Emery is already three months old, and
Lindsay will be two in less than two months!  Time really does fly
when you’re too busy to ever look at a clock!

And our lives are only about to get even more
hectic with trying to show and sell a house, finding a new one, buying
it, moving, and attempting to settle into a whole new life down in
Portland.  The thought is actually quite exhausting at this point,
probably mostly because I’m sick, or perhaps because Lindsay is
actually turning into a full blown toddler and keeping me busy
24/7.  She has discovered that she enjoys making mischief, and
that, even if it’s negative attention, she gets attention when she gets
caught.  You can actually see her getting ready to do something
she knows full well she shouldn’t, watch her scan the room out of the
corner of her eye to see if anyone’s watching, and then go for it if
she’s decided she’s in the clear.  Then of course, even though I’m
sometimes so exasperated and angry inside that she has deliberately
disobeyed me for the five thousandth time, it’s quite amusing to watch
her jump a foot in the air and tuck her chin to her chest and lift her
shoulders in an attempt to dissappear when I scold her!  In the
past week, she has, in no particular order, unrolled two toilet paper
rolls, thrown one of my votive/candle sets into the toilet, discovered
the toilet brush and proceeded to fling water accross the bathroom,
dumped all sorts of crap into the fish tank, undone her pasty-poop
diaper herself in the early morning hours and proceeded to cover her
hands and legs in poop in an effort to remove the diaper from around
her legs, and just this moring, I turned my back to do the dishes for
two minutes, and when I turned around to check on her, she’d found the
one bottle of febreeze I had left in the cupboard, obviously low enough
that she could reach it in my frenzied cleaning for the house to be
shown, and had it in her mouth, hand on the trigger, like some suicidal
maniac with a gun.  A very fresh gun, but she shouldn’t be putting
it in her mouth either way!  ;)

After throwing two lids to my pots and pans down the stairs not
five minutes later, while Emery was trying to sleep, she spent the
morning sweetly carrying her baby doll around the room, swadling it in
a blanket, rocking it and singing to it, placing it in the bouncy
chair, taking it out to breastfeed it, burping it, putting it back down
for a nap, repeat for about an hour.  It was too cute.  I
love just sitting there listening to her conversations when she thinks
no one’s listening.  It’s amazing how most of the time I want to
squish her, it’s just that sometimes it’s because she’s so darn cute,
and other times because she’s so very not.  ;)

Luckily for me and my pounding head, the munchkins have both
gone down for a nap, and I’m about to do the same in an effort to get
rid of this annoying cold.  I’ll try to take some pictures this
week, but if I don’t get around to it, I’ll definitely take some while
I’m in Portland for Thanksgiving and all of that.

I Forgot To Mention

I forgot to test you all to guess who captioned which pictures in the

new gallery.  ;)  I’m sure you’ll figure it out.

HALLELUJAH!!

It’s finally happening!  We’re moving to Portland!  We
don’t know exactly when yet, because that all depends on when the house
sells, but we have the means, the go-ahead.  Yes that’s right,
Barney finally found a job that will let us move down there.
You’ll never guess what it is.  The EXACT SAME JOB HE’S HAD THE
PAST FOUR YEARS!  ;)  Yes, it’s true.  Barney’s boss figured out a way for us to
afford to move to Portland and be closer to family and friends, but still work for them.  Must feel
good to feel so very needed, so essential to
your company that they’re willing to help your family like that.

So it’s a win-win situation.
Barney gets to keep working for the company he loves, and our family
gets to move closer to the people we love!  I’m so very excited
that our kids are going to get to see more of their Memere and Pepere, their Auntie and Uncle, their cousin(s) (in the future), and our good friends like Carrie, Sim, Nick, Megan and that whole gang, who I’m sure will end up being like family to our kids.

God I hope our house doesn’t take like 6 months to sell.  Someone buy our house!  Please!

Everyone
keep your fingers crossed that just the right person will come along
any day now and snatch it up.  Oh, well, I guess we should put it
on the market first.  ;)

I uploaded some new pics of our last few weeks for your viewing pleasure.  There aren’t a whole lot, but you can also go to Carrie and Chloe’s
sites to see more of us!  Thanks you two.  At least there’s
someone out there updating everyone on our family.  ;)
