Baby Cakes

I finally loaded the photos of some of our cakes into a gallery so you can get an idea of what we’ve been up to.

I’ll make sure I let you know when we finish the website so you can read up on all the details.  :)

Until
then, if you’re interested in a cake, just email us at
info@nobakebabycakes.com, or email me directly at

Adorable

What am I loving today?  The fact that Lindsay is being patient
while I check my email.  She’s singing to her Elmo doll and trying
to use his hand to push the buttons on her activity table.  Too
damn cute.

Wait a minute, now she’s laying on the floor humping
him and repeating after him, "that tickles".  Ha ha ha ha.  So
entertaining.

Where Have I Been?!

You haven’t heard from me recently as I’ve been back and forth
between here and Portland so many times that I’m considering changing
my address!  And whenever I AM back at home, it seems like there
is so much going on that all I have time to do when I get online is to
check my email!

Anyway, lots of things have been happening this
past month.  First of all, I, along with Patrick’s sister Korissa,
threw Chloe and Patrick a babyshower
That was a lot of fun, and I had a ton of help from my Mom and Nanna
while getting set up.  We had over twenty guests, played some fun,
standard shower games, and ate some great food.  Chloe and Patrick
came away from the shower having hardly anything left to purchase for
the new addition except an unending supply of diapers.

Next, I was elected as President of the MOMS Club
in my area.  I’m excited about the coming year and looking forward
to meeting even more great women and kiddos, and continuing to have a
wonderful variety of almost daily activities for us to do.  Once I
heal and can get out of the house after the new munchkin comes along,
we’ll certainly never be bored.

Last weekend Chloe and I
put on a garage sale at her house and made over four hundred
bucks.  Not too shabby considering how the weather let us
down.  As always, I was amazed at how exhausting just standing
around all day can be.  Lindsay was awesome though, and greeted
each shopper as they came to peruse our wares.

Hmmm, what else…
oh, I haven’t really mentioned it on the site, but I’m in business with
my friend Joanna now.  We have a company called No Bake Baby Cakes
We make "cakes" for baby showers and any mother-to-be in general.
The cakes are made from rolled up diapers wrapped in ribbon and
surrounded by useful baby items.  We make them in our spare
time/during the kids’ naps, and sell them locally.  We are
planning to expand though after we saw what a market there is for
them.  After being featured on the front page of the Business
section in the local paper,
the calls poured in, and we were convinced that this was in fact an in
demand item.  We are currently working on a website to take
internet orders as well, so stay tuned!  I’ll post a gallery of
some of our cakes on here as well when I get a spare second!

Ok,
I think that’s it for now.  We’re heading to Maine for a family
reunion this Thursday, but I’ll try to post again before I leave. Oh,
in case you didn’t see them, there are two new galleries over on the
left.  Oh ya, and I forgot to mention that both Chloe and Carrie have also taken some wonderful pictures of Lindsay and my visits this past month, so go check them out!

Happy Mother’s Day!

What a wonderful day.

Barney was an angel and let me sleep in
for the second morning in a row!  That never happens!
Lindsay thought about getting up at 6:15 and started whimpering and
opened the door once (but couldn’t open it all the way, as there is a
loop and hook type thing that only allows it to open about two
inches).  When she heard that no one else was up, she closed the
door and crawled back into bed until 7:30.  Well, I guess I can
only assume she crawled back into bed.  In all reality, she could
very well have just played with her stuffed animals for an hour and a
half, but either way is fine with me.  ;)  So Barney got up
with her and they played together until I finally woke up at 9:30.

He
then brought her down to see me in bed, the sweet, excited calls of
"Ma-Ma" preceeding their arrival down the stairs.  I tucked her in
with me and we all cuddled for a few minutes.  Barney then snuck
away and when we finally went upstairs to find him, there he was, in
the kitchen, fixing me a delicious strawberry crepe breakfast.
Mmmmmm.  I won’t say I monitored my portions.  ;)  We
enjoyed our decadent breakfast, Lindsay eating only the sugared
strawberries (don’t worry, Barney had already fed her a normal
breakfast), and boy were there repercussions to feeding that much sugar
to a 16 month old.

As soon as we let her down from her
chair, she proceeded to RUN (the drunk old man run, I might add, which
is funny in itself) all over the house, randomly naming objects and
talking nonsense while swinging her arms in the air like a some lunatic
monkey finally let out of its cage.  It was great after-meal
entertainment, but Barney and I decided maybe we better watch her with
sugar from now on, as she seems a little sensitive to it.  ;)

Even
though the weather didn’t look that great, we decided to take our
chances and go to the park to let the munchkin burn off some
energy.  We scoped out a new park in the neighborhood and will
definitely be going back.  It has an awesome, huge treehouse, a la
the Ewok Village, and a detatched, enclosed slide that starts about 20
feet up , and ends at an elevated 4 feet up!  Frighteningly
enough, it brought to my mind thoughts of those human cannons you see
at the circus.  There were landing marks/skids a good ten feet
away from the outlet, where poor kid after kid must have been shot out
and slid on his butt across the dirt.  Incredibly dangerous
without supervision I would think, heck, even with supervision!
So naturally, up I climbed with my 16 month old!  ;)  Barney
waited at the bottom to catch her.  She lit up when
she ducked down and saw him down there at the end of the tunnel, and
quickly
sat down and scooted to the edge.  I really wish I could have seen
her face on the way down because that sucker funneled her through at
light speed.  She was giggling when she started, silent the entire
way down (I don’t think she breathed the whole way) but it only took
her a few seconds to catch her breath once in her daddy’s arms and
squeak out an enthusiastic
"MORE"!  I think she was still high off the sugar
personally.  We let her go down a few more times, each time
seeming to scare the crap out of her, but each time she wanted more
once she reached the bottom.  We’ll definitely be going back, but
we’ve named it "weekend park" because we’ll only be able to go if the
two of us are present.  There has to be someone at the bottom of
the slide, and I’m not crazy enough to try to go down it with
her!  ;)

Pictures you ask?…  C’mon, you know me, I
would never forget to forget my camera!  I will definitely take
the camera next time we go and try to get some action shots of the
slide of terror, which of course is now Lindsay’s favorite slide EVER.

Altogether
an absolutely wonderful way to spend Mother’s Day.  I hope the
rest of you celebrated your mothers on this fine day, or were
celebrated yourself.

Happy Mother’s Day.

I’m Here, I’m Here!

Ok, I don’t have a ton of time to post right now, but I wanted to at
least put SOMETHING on here so that you wouldn’t all be looking at a
blank page and wonder where the heck I’ve disappeared to!

Lindsay
and I were in Portland with Auntie Chloe and Uncle Patrick for over a
week, and they didn’t have their computer hooked up, so I was cut off
from my internet world!  The horror…

Well, for now you’ll have to go peruse the pics I managed to upload this morning.  There are a couple in the April Gallery, as well as new Warrenton and Seaside Galleries. Enjoy.  I’ll hopefully post tonight when Lindsay goes to bed.
