Tiptoe Through The Tulips

Lindsay and I spent a beautiful Northwest day at the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.  We played away several hours walking through row after row
of multicolored tulips and splashing in the copious mud puddles in
between them.  I can’t believe how much fun we had, and how much
she actually enjoyed it.  I had my doubts as to how patient a 15
month old would be walking around looking at flowers, but she was
awesome.  She single handedly destroyed several bunches of tulips
though, as one year olds don’t seem to get the concept of "stand here,
don’t move, and smile at the camera" when you plop them down in a field
and run away to take a picture.  ;)

She loved picking the tulips, and I realized that once I had asked her not to pick a certain color,
she wouldn’t try it again, but sure enough, when we went over to a new
color patch, she’d touch one and look at me like, "can I pick these ones?"  Kids crack me up.

So
we destroyed tulips, got soaking wet in muddy water, witnessed an
amazing display of nature’s brilliance and variety in flowers, and
loved every minute.  I haven’t had so much fun in quite a while
and I’m considering dragging Barney out there with us this weekend if
it’s as nice as it was today.  For now though, enjoy the many pictures
I managed to snap in between picking Lindsay up out of puddles, telling
her not to eat any more mud, and saving hundreds of defenseless tulips
from the wrath of my daughter.  ;)

The Horror

So there we are, sitting down to watch Lindsay’s first
glimpse of the Fraggles.  The music starts up, cue adorable
dancing Fraggles……

What does Lindsay say?

ELMO.

Dear God, she’s been tainted.

Pictures

In all of my Fraggle
excitement, I forgot to mention that I finally uploaded the few
pictures I have taken this month.  There are a few I managed to
snap during the blind game, as well as some of Lindsay playing with
Uncle Patrick last weekend.  Enjoy.

I’m Lovin’ It

Today’s "What’s Hot":

FRAGGLES!

I loved
Fraggle Rock as a kid, and when I saw that they are releasing some
episodes and such on DVD, I just HAD to get them for Lindsay.  Now
I have that song stuck in my head.  If you don’t know it, you were
definitely not around in the 80’s, or you were severly deprived.
You can listen to it here, or watch the intro here.

Everybody now!  "Dance your cares away *clap clap*, Worries for another day.  Let the music play *clap clap* Down in Fraggle Rock!"

Did I mention I love them?!  Fraggles Rock!  :)

Strange Days

Sorry you haven’t heard from me in a while.  I don’t know why I
haven’t logged in and blogged recently, because it feels like I’m on
the computer a lot these days, especially while Lindsay takes her naps
(which is when I should be sleeping too because I seem to be really
tired these past two weeks, but never actually lay down and do it when
I suddenly have two hours all to myself!) Ok, I’ll stop rambling now.

Let’s see, I’ll recap last week for you, but you’ll have to forgive me
because I’ve been terrible about taking pictures.  We went down to
Portland last weekend and had a lot of fun.  Both Carrie and Chloe
wrote little blurbs about it in their blogs, so you might want to go
check those out as well!  And Chloe even took pictures!  Good
auntie.  ;)  Portland was great as always and left me longing
to live there, closer to friends and family, even though I love
Bellingham and all of the woderful people I’ve met here as well.

I got to hang out with Carrie on Saturday while Chloe was at work and
the boys went and drove their RC cars.  We went shopping for some
linnens for the new bed/couch thing in their office, which, ahem, we
have yet to  see pictures of.  ;)

Then on Saturday evening, Chloe and I went and started our baby
registries at Baby’s R Us, while Uncle Patrick was kind enough to chase
Lindsay around the store to keep her out of our hair for an hour.
He was exhausted after just an hour!  HAHAHAHAHAHA!  Excuse
me while I laugh with evil delight at the thought of their first few
months with the new baby!  Hee hee hee.  You don’t have to
chase the baby around thank god, but sleep deprivation can do nasty
things to a person.  It’s far more exhausting than people who
haven’t taken care of an infant 24/7 realize.  I can’t wait for my
second-go-round!  And with a toddler to take care of all day,
every day to boot!  Wheeeeeee!  ;)

What did we do on Sunday?……Oh ya.  Patrick’s sister brought
her adorable son, Deontay over to play with Lindsay.  She mostly
just poked at the footballs on his shirt, and they tried to give each
other kisses the whole time, which was pretty cute.  There are
some pics at Chloe’s site if you’d like to check them out, because as
usual, I didn’t take any!  :P

Ummmm, other news.  Oh, we went in for my 20 week ultrasound last
Friday and everything looked pretty good, except that the little
munchkin is "extremely active" as both the tech and nurse told me
independantly.  Oh goody.  We couldn’t even get any good pics
because it was too wiggly!  And no, we didn’t find out the
sex.  We’d like to have that surprise at delivery, so you’ll just
have to be patient.

So ya, the ultrasound was good, except, I had forgotten about something that Carole’s
most recent post reminded me of.  In speaking of her "bajingo
woes", I was reminded that they found something abnormal on my
ultrasound as well.  In my left ovary, I have, drumroll
please……….

AN OVARY MONSTER!!!!!!  AHHHHHHH, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!

Ok, it’s actually called an ovarian dermoid teratoma (WARNING, this picture not intended for those with sensitive stomachs),
but that basically translates down to ovary monster.  Neat
huh?  You have to read the guy’s article.  I love the part
about how the Catholic Church used to require that teratomas be
baptised because they thought they were fertilized embryos!
;)

Anyway, when Barney heard the tech describe this, he of course was
delighted and started telling me about how it had teeth and claws and
was "gnawing away at my ovary".  He even offered to draw a picture
of it for me and post it here on my site.  How sweet.
Anyway, the tech said it’s a benign tumor thing that just starts
growing on its own.  Now here’s the part that makes me want to
hurl.  They almost always have extra cells in them that produce
skin, fat, and hair, and very often TEETH!  Hence Barney imagining
it as a little beast with "nasty pointed teeth".  There have even
been cases where they have fully developed jaw bones and such in
them!  *wretch*   It’s not like a baby that didn’t make
it though.  It’s not fertilized or anything…they’re just your
own cells that go crazy or something, I dunno.  So continues the
saga that is Heather’s body’s inability to function along normal
medical guidelines.  Sigh.  It better be benign like they
said, that’s all I have to say about it.

I’ll probably just have it removed after the munchkin is born, but it gives me the creeps all the same.  G-yuck.

Now you kind of wish I hadn’t posted don’t you?  I really hope you didn’t read this during lunch.  ;)
