Swe-e-t Em-o-tion

I have to stop listening to country music.

Don’t
get me wrong, I like country, except for the really twangy annoying
stuff, but most of it’s great.  However, I need to stop listening
in the car because I’ve decided it’s detrimental to my, and Lindsay’s
health.

With Hangnail’s pregnancy going strong, and affecting
my emotions more strongly than Lindsay’s did, my heightened sensitivity
and country music just don’t mix well.  There are a few songs in
particular that send tears rolling down my cheeks every time I hear
them, and this, along with driving, do not go well together.
Don’t ask me why they do this, they just do, and there’s nothing I can
do to stop it, except of course to turn the radio off.  I know
there are many more, but the ones I heard today are, in no particular
order:

God’s Will and In My Daughter’s Eyes, both by Martina McBride
and American Soldier, by Toby Keith.

Just a warning, don’t listen to these while you’re pregnant if you are
an emotional basketcase like myself.  The really scary thing is
that it’s not just country music now that I think about it.  It’s
stuff on t.v. and in movies too.  But at least  when I
blubber like an idiot to those, I’m safely seated on my couch at home
ya know?  ;)

So do you have any songs or movies that affect you like this?   C’mon, spill it.

You betcha!!! The Beacons in ROTK. Having watched it well over 50 times, I STILL have tears running down my face when I see it. I can usually get through that piece of music on the soundtrack, but sometimes not.

Any patriotic song at an event, or certain songs at church, I get so choked up. I try not to let on and thus risk embarassment.

Honey, it’s hormones. Mine are out of whack, NOT due to pregnancy, but out of whack nonetheless.

    See you soon!!!!

I am not even having weird hormone things and I can totally relate. Sweetie, its just being a woman! But since you asked, things that make me cry:
The country song: How Do You Get That Lonely by Blaine Larsen (http://blainelarsen.donthum.com/howdoyougetthatlonelylyrics.html….follow the link, but make sure you are alone!)
Last night watching people get voted off of Survivor
Hallmark commercials in general (you know the ones)
And that is JUST the tip of the iceberg!! I’ll stop now to prevent the tears just thinking about it!

Muppet Christmas Carol, Muppet Treasure Island, Muppets take Manhattan, half the songs from Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Enya, the movie Anchorman made me cry (awful movie BTW)!

I’m getting better about the Muppet Movies, but I have to very engrossed in something else. I haven’t dared watch any LOTR movies since Gabey’s birth, I haven’t even bought the ROTK extended version. I really want to see it, but it just may be too revealing…

In the car I have to listen to either NPR or punk music, as an added buffer against breakdowns.

    Yeehaw for breastfeeding.

Not a song or a movie, but ANY Johnson & Johnson commercial…the one with the dad reading with his two boys gets me right now. And then there’s the quote at the end, “Having a baby changes everything.” A guaranteed eye-waterer!

  5. 5 Carole

The movie “My Dog Skip” made me bawl for at least one hour the first time I saw it. I have to agree that country music can make me cry like no other. Two songs in particular:

    “You’re Gone” by Diamond Rio
    “Belleau Wood” by Garth Brooks

Being a SOOOOPER emotional person, I shudder to think what I’ll be like during pregnancy. Heather, I feel for you.

Oh, also “Extreme Home Makeover.” Ninety percent of the time I am bawling by the end of the episode.

  7. 7 Chloe

I second Carole’s last comment about “Extreme Home Makeover”… only I’m usually the one that has to remain strong, because it’s my HUSBAND that gets choked up at the end of the show! God help me!

If you haven’t seen The Notebook movie, expect to use an ENTIRE box of tissues by the end of the movie. It has to be the perfect love story… total tear jerker though! I was also a blithering idiot on Valentine’s day while watching Good Morning America. They had men proposing to their girlfriends in really romantic ways and it was more than I could take. Really.

  9. 9 Carrie

I am with Chloe on The Notebook. I kept thinking, “what was everyone talking about. I am SO not gonna cry.” Then low and behold I sent Sim for the tissues. It was good tears though. So that makes it a little better….right?

Not all tears are an evil.

It makes me sad when Heather doesn’t post new things on her site…..

Day after day I get excited to open “The Boisvert Life” just to find…..nothing new. :(
