More Pics Of The Hawaii Kiddos!

We received two more photos of Lindsay’s “cousins from the islands”. Take a peek!

Rainy Days And Mondays…

It was rather nasty outside today, but we really wanted to get out of the house and do something, so we packed up the fam and headed into town!

We ended up going to Tube Time, a huge, local, indoor amusement area for kids. Have you ever seen those giant hamster cages with tunnels and little rooms and such attached and twisting all over the place, like some freakish, monstrous McDonalds play place? Well, that’s where we went.

The nice thing is, until Lindsay can walk, it’s free for all of us to get in, and Barney and I can still act like morons and crawl through the tubes without having to pay! :) We’re terrible. We mostly just hung out in the toddler area though. It’s separated from the huge tube area, and just has a ball pit with an attached ramp and slide, and then some other little houses and such laying around, for us, oh, I mean them to play in and climb over.

I had a rather deprived childhood, as I was never allowed in ball pits because my dad had a phobia about how the balls are never cleaned and he was sure we would get all sorts of weird diseases from playing in them…. Don’t ask. Anyway, the first time we went to Tube Time here in Bellingham was the first time I had even been in a ball pit. Lindsay and I were ball pit virgins together. ;) We’ve now been several times, and neither of us have gotten sick yet (this may however have something to do with the fact that as soon as we get out, I slather both of our hands with disinfectant hand lotion!)

After we spent an hour wallowing in the germs of the ball pit, we had a very healthy lunch at Jack In The Box! (Don’t worry, Lindsay brings her own food, although I do sneak her pieces of french fry now and then) Talk about the greatest way to spend a Sunday!

While we were eating, I noticed a family come in with a little boy, probably close to Lindsay’s age. I realized a few minutes later that we must have been using the only high chair available. How did I come to this conclusion you ask? Well, I happened to look over there while I was feeding Lindsay, and saw that they had tied the little boy to a regular chair, using the mom’s sweater!! I almost laughed out loud, but restrained myself, and tried to hurry up so that we could offer them the high chair. It was so funny, but it got me thinking. You know a first time parent would never have done that (Ok, ya, maybe Barney and I would have, but we’ve never really been like other first time parents…we’re almost too laid back!)…they would have just stood there waiting half an hour for us to finish our meal, and then taken the high chair. I love how laid back parents get once they’ve been through it and realize that not everything out of the ordinary will harm their child. Maybe if more parents did this with their firsts, those older children would be just as well adjusted as their siblings. Hee hee hee, just kidding, had to do it for my sister’s sake. ;)

Anyway, I took some pictures of our outing today to share with you all. Enjoy!

Hawaii Boisverts

We went in and put some captions on the photos of Nikolai and Gabriel so they weren’t just numbers anymore. We just wanted to get them up quickly for people to see the other night, but now that we had a moment to sit down, we actually gave them titles and such. I think more will be coming soon… hint, hint. :)

I Finally Did It!

Some of you already know this, but for those who don’t…

I CUT ALL OF MY HAIR OFF!!!!

No, it’s not some mid-life crisis thing, and no, it doesn’t have anything to do with having a baby, as has been suggested. I’ve been wanting to cut it all off for quite some time, but just didn’t have the courage ’til now. My hair has gotten so incredibly thin due to my thyroid disease that I couldn’t just leave it down, or braid it or anything, because there would be these huge bald patches where you could totally see through to my scalp. I figured I may as well cut it so short that you can see through to my scalp the whole way around, and that way at least it’s semi symmetrical. ;)
I think the gal did a pretty good job on it myself. I told her I didn’t want it to look too “butch”, and I don’t think it does, but hey, when you chop all of your hair off to the length of a guy’s…you can’t ask for miracles. ;)

It’s super easy to do in the mornings, which is nice, because Lindsay and I always seem to be heading out the door in a rush. And shampooing it…..ummmm….is there even enough to wash? ;)
So, here it is, go take a look, but be kind with your comments!

Hawaii Pictures

My mom sent over some pictures of Nikolai and Gabriel for me to distribute for others to see. There’s just six, but I’m sure more will follow.

Yay, I’m An Auntie…Again!

Wonderful news!

I have a new nephew, Gabriel Boisvert, born to Peggy and Justin, and new little brother to Nikolai.

I haven’t yet recieved all of the details, but I gather things went smoothly, and he and his mom are healthy and doing fine. He’s all the way over in Hawaii, so who knows when I’ll get the chance to see him, but I’m very excited all the same. I’ll start a gallery for his pics and updates if those islanders ever send us any! ;) Just joking, I know things are most likely hectic, and will be for a few weeks. But we’re all looking forward to some adorable photos, and more in depth stories of the birth and such.

Hope everyone is well and getting as much sleep as they can.

My Measely Little Vote

I really wish I hadn’t decided to go the absentee ballot route this year, because it would have been kind of fun to go down to the ballot place and cast my vote along with everyone else. Although it might have felt weird, me wandering around in a sea of Kerry supporters, knowing in my heart that I was voting for everything they hated!

I kind of feel like my vote didn’t matter this year though, because my state will most definitely go to Kerry, but I’m hoping that some of the other people and measures I voted for will pass/be elected, and so in some small way, I helped build a better future for my family.

Even if my candidate doesn’t win, which I have a sneaking suspiscion he’s not going to (because every person I ever vote for in any election looses! Yes, I voted for Al last year, and since I’m voting for Bush this year, he’ll more than likely loose as well), I’ll just be all the more interested to see if this Kerry fellow follows through on all of his promises and makes our country a better place. If not, I’ll just sit there and shake my head for all of those poor young voters who put their hearts and souls into him and wound up utterly dissapointed and disillusioned.

Should be an interesting four years…

Go Bush!

An Interesting Perspective

This is from a ColdFusion developer from down in Australia, posted to one of the developer mailing lists I participate in. An interesting perspective, I thought.

A Big Day!!!

Yes, of course it’s Melbourne Cup day in Australia, but possibly even
more important, it’s the day that 200 million lucky people get a
chance to elect the President of the Entire World.

So I would encourage you, if you happen to be one of that lucky few,
to take advantage of the opportunity. As someone who will be greatly
affected by the result, yet as one of the huge majority who do not
actually have a say, I hope you will not let the chance go by.

I don’t mind who you vote for (I do really), just as long as you get
out there and do it.

Enjoy it!

Lindsay’s First Halloween

Well, it has come and gone. Lindsay seemed to enjoy her first Halloween ever, even though she couldn’t actually eat the candy she trick or treated for! That’s ok, Barney and I made sure it didn’t go to waste. ;)
We went to several events throughout the week; little carnivals, parties, costume parades, etc. On Halloween itself, we went trick or treating in the cute town a little south of us, where all of the shops and cafes stayed open late to have fun with all of the munchkins. After that, we headed to the local kiddie carnival, where we participated in cake walks and a costume contest.

Did we win? Of course we did! I was a witch, and Lindsay was my little familiar (a black cat). I tried to convince Barney to dress up as well, but he said he was already in his costume. What do you think? Can you guess what he is?

Ya, that’s right, no costume. He says he was a “mad programmer” or something like that. ;) Oh well, maybe we’ll convince him next year. There are a few more new pics in the galleries. Go check them out.
