Jaws

Lindsay now has two lower front teeth. It’s so cool to see those little white peaks getting higher and higher. And she’s fascinated with them, constantly feeling them with both her fingers and her tongue.

She is still a drooly mess. However, I’m hopeful that the snot is finally diminishing a little in quantity. Thank God. All of my shirts from the past week or two have been covered in nasty dried slime. I’ve been doing nothing but laundry all-day-every-day.

Ok, it wasn’t really that bad. But close!

Her new cute things are definitely clapping and “kissing” herself in the mirror, if you can call it that.

I know she’s been clapping for a bit now, but she has really gotten into it these days. She’ll just sit there on the floor and clap while she does what her daddy and I call the “humpy dance”. She does it both when there’s music/singing, and when she is eating her little fruit treats or cheerios. It’s really cute. I’ll have to take some video and post it on here for you to see.

As for the mirror…she loves turbo-crawling up to the mirror we have leaning against the wall for her in the family room, and running into it face-first, intentionally smashing her nose and mouth into the glass. I “sing” the Jaws music as she begins this task, until she makes contact with the glass. She’ll just sit there breathing loudly on the glass for several seconds, and then, without removing her face from the mirror, turn her head slightly to see if I’m still watching her. Then, she backs up a couple feet, and the ramming process begins again. Daaaaaadum. Daaaaaaadum. Dadum, dadum, dadum, dadum…………

Keeps me entertained!

No More Nasty Comments (Hopefully)

After the huge influx of evil comments this morning, I started playing around with a various ideas for terminating them before they get recorded on the site. That’s mostly for Heather and my benefit, because we get an email every time a comment is posted, but it also means that the rest of you don’t have to see the comments on the site before I get around to deleting them.

The initial dropoff of extra comments looks promising, but only time will tell if the measures I employed will be effective long term. Here’s hoping.

Snail Trails

Ever tried to suck snot out of a 9 month old’s nose? It’snot a pretty thing. Hee hee hee. ;)
I can’t decide whether Lindsay has a cold, or if the river of slime somehow coincides with the teething that started this week. Everyone’s telling me that their noses start to run when the teeth break through, and it did start on the same exact day that she cut her first tooth.

However, the fact that Barney and I are both also suffering with the sniffles, and not teething at the same time, points toward the possibility of a cold. Just a guess.

Anyway, back to the sucking of said snot. She had a little cold when she was just a couple months old, and, while she didn’t like me sucking out her nose, she lacked the coordination or physical strength to do much protesting other than crying. Things have changed. She now turns into the Incredible Hulk as soon as the sucker bulb reaches her face, and pries my hands away with the strength of ten men. I have to try to pin her arms with one arm, while steadying her face with my other arm. On top of this, I must then, with pinpoint accuracy, insert the sucker into two tiny nostrils, smaller than the buttons on my phone, while she twists her head back and forth, fighting for her life.

At least that’s what it seems like she’s thinking. I really hope I’m not scarring her for life…..her thinking she narrowly escaped her mother murdering her several times throughout childhood.

Thank God we don’t remember anything until we’re like 4.
