NO BITING!!!

Yes, we had our first biting incident this evening.

Lindsay’s been teething again I think, on the top row this time. She’s been pretty grumpy lately and keeps feeling her upper gums, so I’m pretty sure that’s what’s up.

Anyway, Barney put her in my lap this evening after changing her diaper and putting her jammies on. Situation: normal. I cradled her head as usual and brought her towards me. Situation: normal. She opened her mouth and…

SO NOT NORMAL!!!!

It really hurt! You can’t imagine how incredibly sharp those little teeth are! And on somewhere so sensitive, dear lord. What a cruel joke of nature to make it necessary to give sustenance by putting such a sensitive body part in the jaws of a being so very unaware of the whole action-consequence aspect of life!

I instantly reacted by whacking her leg and crying out, “no biting!” It was a “knee-jerk reaction”, and I kinda felt bad I had whacked her, but like I said, it shocked me and my body reacted. It sure did shock her too, you should have seen the look on her face. She’s very stubborn though, and she slowly lowered her mouth back down and bit more gently, watching me the whole time! I again told her not to bite, louder and more sternly this time. She pulled off and made this face, then started doing this and refused to latch back on for a minute or two. I just talked to her a bit, and she finally latched on in between sobs, and luckily didn’t try biting again.

We’ll see if she remembers the lesson. Tomorrow is another day.

Same thing happened to me and I had the same reaction. Twap! They learned rather quickly. Good luck.

Oh my! I read this site http://chookooloonks.typepad.com/chookooloonks/2004/10/the_top_four_re.html and totally thought of you! But how cute those little teeth are. Too bad they can also be weapons!
