Ever tried to suck snot out of a 9 month old’s nose? It’snot a pretty thing. Hee hee hee. ![]()
I can’t decide whether Lindsay has a cold, or if the river of slime somehow coincides with the teething that started this week. Everyone’s telling me that their noses start to run when the teeth break through, and it did start on the same exact day that she cut her first tooth.
However, the fact that Barney and I are both also suffering with the sniffles, and not teething at the same time, points toward the possibility of a cold. Just a guess.
Anyway, back to the sucking of said snot. She had a little cold when she was just a couple months old, and, while she didn’t like me sucking out her nose, she lacked the coordination or physical strength to do much protesting other than crying. Things have changed. She now turns into the Incredible Hulk as soon as the sucker bulb reaches her face, and pries my hands away with the strength of ten men. I have to try to pin her arms with one arm, while steadying her face with my other arm. On top of this, I must then, with pinpoint accuracy, insert the sucker into two tiny nostrils, smaller than the buttons on my phone, while she twists her head back and forth, fighting for her life.
At least that’s what it seems like she’s thinking. I really hope I’m not scarring her for life…..her thinking she narrowly escaped her mother murdering her several times throughout childhood.
Thank God we don’t remember anything until we’re like 4.
….and that snot very nice, is it preciousss???
Ah, the trials and tribulations of parenthood!!
You certainly have a way with words!!
Don’t worry, you won’t do any permanent scarring of her psyche.
Heather…the only other way to handle the snot problem is to let it run until she can lick it with her tongue…ugh!…just like the eskimo babies do…you can always see them with snot running down their lips..
Keep up the good work Heather, what a beautiful great, granddaughter you and Barney presented us with?
Love, Nanna
