Although I slept pretty well last night, this morning I was rather restless, worrying about whether or not Lindsay made it through the night ok.
Last night is the first time she has fallen asleep on her stomach (except for naps of course), so I was a little concerned about how the night was going to go. First of all, there’s all of that new research that says that the leading contributor to SIDS is stomach-sleeping, and secondly, I was afraid that she was going to get uncomfortable pretty quickly and wake herself up in the middle of the night, which is a practice I really don’t want to initiate!
So, after not having been woken up last night, and not hearing any wake-up grunts or gurgles from her room, I was fighting with myself about getting out of bed and checking on her. But, I managed to control my neurosis, and stayed positive, and sure enough, she started making sounds about 15 minutes later.
It appears the only bad thing about her stomach-sleeping through the night is that when she woke up, her face looked really strange to me, and I quickly realized that the eye she had slept on was all swollen! I think it may be going down, but I of course, being the evil mother I am, had to tease her and call her my cute little Sloth. For those non-movie-goers out there, Sloth is the disfigured brother of the bad guys in the movie “The Goonies”. I wish I had taken a picture, as I think it would have complimented her helmet picture quite well! Hee hee hee!
So there it is, My Little Sloth made it through her first night of sleeping on her stomach, and all she has to show for it is a funky eye. Life can be so cruel. (And so can her Momma!)
