My Little Sloth

Although I slept pretty well last night, this morning I was rather restless, worrying about whether or not Lindsay made it through the night ok.

Last night is the first time she has fallen asleep on her stomach (except for naps of course), so I was a little concerned about how the night was going to go. First of all, there’s all of that new research that says that the leading contributor to SIDS is stomach-sleeping, and secondly, I was afraid that she was going to get uncomfortable pretty quickly and wake herself up in the middle of the night, which is a practice I really don’t want to initiate!

So, after not having been woken up last night, and not hearing any wake-up grunts or gurgles from her room, I was fighting with myself about getting out of bed and checking on her. But, I managed to control my neurosis, and stayed positive, and sure enough, she started making sounds about 15 minutes later.

It appears the only bad thing about her stomach-sleeping through the night is that when she woke up, her face looked really strange to me, and I quickly realized that the eye she had slept on was all swollen! I think it may be going down, but I of course, being the evil mother I am, had to tease her and call her my cute little Sloth. For those non-movie-goers out there, Sloth is the disfigured brother of the bad guys in the movie “The Goonies”. I wish I had taken a picture, as I think it would have complimented her helmet picture quite well! Hee hee hee!

So there it is, My Little Sloth made it through her first night of sleeping on her stomach, and all she has to show for it is a funky eye. Life can be so cruel. (And so can her Momma!) ;)

Ba-da-ba-ba-ba, I’m Loving It ;)

In case you don’t watch T.V. or listen to the radio, the title of this post is the new little McDonalds jingle. For those of you fellow media junkies who know the tune, I’m sure you’re now mad at me because it’s stuck in your head! :)
Well, I’ve decided that, so far, age 6-7 months is my favorite for babies. Lindsay is so much fun right now! She’s just developing such a little personality and sense of humor, it catches me off guard sometimes and cracks me up! She gives hearty belly-laughs at silly things I do, or weird noises I make, and perks up and gets all excited every time I enter the room. She’s just such a cool little person to hang out with ya know?

Lindsay had a babysitter over last night for 5 hours, and I’m told she was awesome, except for the last half hour. I totally expected that though, because we got back late and kept her up past her bedtime and way over her last feeding time, so she finally got hungry and tired right before we got home. The babysitter was really nice, and I think they had a good time together, but I think she was more used to older kids, because when I got home and changed Lindsay, her diaper was on backwards! :) It didn’t seem to bother her at all though, and just made me laugh, so no harm done.

We left Lindsay with the babysitter because Barney and I were invited out on a yacht belonging to one of his company’s investors, for a nice evening cruise with dinner and drinks. It was a beautiful evening and the company and food were great. Such a nice little “adult” getaway from the munchkin, but I found myself missing her by the end of the evening! I know, I must be insane, but I can’t help it. I think I’m a little smitten. ;)

I think she’s getting pretty close now to crawling, because she’s so desperate to move that she won’t stop rolling all over the place! She also keeps trying to get her knees underneath her, which she wasn’t doing before. I’m trying to work on the sitting up thing with her as well and she’s getting very close to that too. She’ll sit unassisted for a little bit, but still tries to throw herself backwards after a bit, so I make sure I’m there to catch her head!

I can’t believe how fast she’s growing! Ahhhhh!

Oh, I’ve also discovered that I’ve now become a “Mam” in the eyes of the younger generation! :( I have little kids and teenagers calling me MAM! What next!?

del photographer extraordinaire returns

he who takes photos excellente has once again been spotted in the forest. his long absence can be explained simply by looking at the smell of the birds. thankfully upon bringing his presence again to the home of the boisverts, he also lavished upon them (and their remote viewers) a batch of pictures from prior escapades. there was much rejoicing.

We Have Berries!

We finally did it! I have a whole container of berries! Now to just get my butt up to the kitchen to make the cobbler….that’s a whole ‘nother story! :)
Barney, Lindsay, and I went out yesterday evening and pulled every last “almost ripe” blackberry off of the bushes along the lake! They really needed another week, but I’ll just add some more sugar to combat the tartness. ;) There are going to be TONS next week, so I think I’ll be making quite a few blackberry creations.

Yay! Memere and Pepere are coming to visit in a couple weeks! We’re so excited. Maybe they’ll get to try out some sort of blackberry “surprise”. :)

Uh oh, gotta go, Lindsay is tearing apart her Time magazine and trying to eat each delicious page! Will hopefully post some pictures tonight!

Another Beautiful Day

Lindsay and I took Barney out to our swimming hole from yesterday. We swam again, and it felt wonderful, especially because we actually had our bathing suits this time, so I didn’t have to drive home all wet! We couldn’t convince Barney to come all the way in, he’d only come in up to his knees! Party pooper. He’s not really your outdoor, rugged, mountain man type. He even complained that he had to walk on the dirt and rocks! Oh my! Not that!! ;)
It was nice to have him along on the trip with us anyway though. We again put off the berry picking because it was just too hot to be out in the sun for that long, but we plan to try again tomorrow. I’m determined to make my cobbler!

We’ll post some picks of the lake as soon as we get motivated enough to go out to the car and get the camera! Keep checking back!

My Little Trooper

It was an absolutely gorgeous day here today. Almost too hot for my liking, but perfect for a swim in the lake, which is exactly what we did!

We didn’t intend originally to swim in the lake, we went there to do the loop walk around the lake as we do almost every weekday, and to pick blackberries for a cobbler, along the way. But there were so many people there swimming and looking like they were having such a good time, that I couldn’t help myself, and I made the impulsive decision to get in as well. We found a secluded, sunny, sandy little beach, right off the trail, slathered on some more sunscreen, and waded in.

No, we didn’t have our swimsuits, because, as I said, we didn’t intend to go swimming. So, Lindsay swam in her diaper, and I swam in my clothes! It was pretty fun to just wade into the water fully clothed. It was a little cold at first, but Lindsay was awesome and didn’t even care. Once she got used to it, she splashed around and we chased floating pinecones and sticks, and bubbles coming up from the bottom of the lake as I walked……it was a blast! When we got out, her diaper was HUGE! It’s amazing how much liquid those things will hold! I highly recommend the Huggies Cruisers. They’re our favorite. :) We never did pick berries for our cobbler…..have to do that this weekend!

Later, Barney’s boss sent everyone home early because it was so nice out, so we all went down to the lake here in Sudden Valley (different than the one we swam in earlier today) and had a nice BBQ/picnic.

What a lovely day. I wish every day could be like this. We need to win the lottery. ;)

So, I got on here to add a blog entry while Lindsay takes a nap, but I can hear her waking up after only 20 minutes, and now I can’t think of anything to say!

Let’s see……we had a nice weekend on the Oregon Coast with Barney’s parents. I hate the driving, but looooooove the visiting. Chloe, Patrick, and my Mom also stopped by for an hour because they were on the coast that Sunday, so that was nice to be able to see them as well. Unfortunately we forgot to bring the digital camera with us, so we have to wait until Dodo finishes up the roll of film that we took some pictures on, and hopefully we can put some of those up on the site for your viewing pleasure, eventually.

What else….just keeping busy with the MOMS Club here, walking, cooking, doing Secret Pals, swimming, playgroups, etc. It’s a lot of fun, but I feel really tired lately! I think we just need some more “home time” instead of constant travelling. I’ll have to work on that. In the mean time, come visit us people! We love having visitors, and appreciate people making the effort to get up here once in a while so that we don’t always have to be on the road. And please keep in touch! I love comments and emails, so keep ‘em coming.

Copy Cat

I think Lindsay has officially started playing her first game ever. It all started the other night after dinner, when she and her daddy had quite the conversation, copying each other back and forth for about 10 minutes. It was hysterical. Lindsay would make a noise and wait for Barney to copy her, then change it a little bit and wait to see if he caught on, and smile when he did. She couldn’t get enough of it! She has now sarted doing the same game with me, attempting to do it ALL DAY LONG. :)

We also went swimming again today, which she of course loved. She’s getting really good at kicking and splashing! She once again found her blue ball to chase around the pool, and the nice lifeguard lady also gave her a cute, miniature rubber ducky because we forgot ours.

Her latest thing is rolling over constantly. I can’t leave her on the bed anymore because she immediately rolls to the edge! And down in our family room, she spends her floor time rolling from one side of the room to the other. The easy, stationary days are behind me I’m afraid. Time to get back into shape!

Lindsay’s First Swimming Adventure

Barney and I took Lindsay to the pool for the first time ever today! I was worried that she’d be too cold, or that she’d panic in the new environment, with all of the new sights, scents, and sounds, but she was just great! She loved it! We walked into the water and she started happily squealing and sucking on her rubber ducky that we brought with us. Her legs started froggy kicking and she loved slapping the water with her hands. I think she got the swimmer gene from her daddy and I. :)
There are some pictures of the event in the new July gallery, as well as a few from the other night when her daddy and I just couldn’t resist taking some pictures of her pouty face. Man can she get that lip out in front of her! It’s hilarious! Go check it out.

Fresno Trip Pics

As promised, we’ve posted some of the pictures from Lindsay and my most recent trip. There is a gallery of the 50th Wedding Anniversary, and a gallery of the rest of the 4th of July celebratory events. Enjoy! Stories about the trip to come later, when I’m not so tired.
